Registration for higher-risk supports is planned from July 2027

Personal care and daily living are on the list of supports the government expects to require registration later. The start of that rollout is 1 July 2027, not this week.

SIL and platform providers were the first step. The next step is wider.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing says mandatory registration will extend to providers delivering higher-risk supports, including supports for people most at risk of abuse or exploitation. It gives examples: personal care, daily living supports, and supports in closed settings. A list of those supports is still to be published. The Department’s overview is on the NDIS amendments page.

The dates on that page are:

  • Rollout of the expanded requirements begins from 1 July 2027.
  • Providers in scope are expected to be registered by December 2030.
  • The NDIS Commission is to give providers more information before they need to be registered.

What not to assume

This does not say that every personal-care provider had to stop on 1 July 2026. That earlier date was about SIL and platform providers. It also does not say your current support worker disappears in July 2027. Providers are being given time, and the Commission still has to publish who is in scope.

Quantum Care’s registration is already in progress. Until it is approved, we support self-managed and plan-managed participants only. We will update what’s next when the status changes. We will not describe a future rule as if it were today’s rule.
