New SIL practice standards started on 1 July 2026

Registered SIL providers are now audited against SIL-specific practice standards. Here is what that means, and what it does not say about Quantum Care.

On 1 July 2026, SIL-specific NDIS Practice Standards started to apply. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner made them as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Quality Indicators for NDIS Practice Standards) Amendment (Supported Independent Living) Guidelines 2026. The Commission’s explanation is on its reform hub and its SIL practice standards page.

These standards are the rules a registered SIL provider is audited against. They cover how SIL is actually run: the person’s say in decisions, safeguarding, how the service is governed, and how housing and support are arranged. Read the Commission’s page for the indicators. A blog post should not replace it.

Why participants hear about it

SIL is a closed setting. People live where the support happens. The standards exist so an audit looks at that living arrangement, not only at a general policy folder. If you are choosing a SIL provider, you can ask how they show those standards in the house, not only whether they have a PDF.

Quantum Care’s limit

We do not deliver SIL, and we are not a registered provider. Registration is in progress. Nothing on this page is a claim that our weekday community supports meet the SIL module. Those supports are described on the services pages.

If a SIL arrangement is unsafe, you can complain to the provider and you can complain straight to the NDIS Commission on 1800 035 544.
