Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS supports in Melbourne
How self-managed and plan-managed funding works when you choose a Melbourne disability support team that is not yet registered.
If you self-manage or use a plan manager, you have more choice about who comes into your home. That includes providers who are still going through NDIS registration.
Self-managed
You (or your nominee) pay invoices and keep records. You can usually choose unregistered providers for everyday supports such as daily living, household help, community access and transport.
The trade-off is admin. You need to check the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, keep quotes, and store invoices.
Plan-managed
A registered plan manager pays providers for you. Many plan managers can pay an unregistered provider for ordinary Core Supports. Always confirm with the plan manager before the first shift.
What Quantum Care can take
We currently work with self-managed and plan-managed participants in Greater Melbourne. We cannot invoice the NDIA directly for agency-managed supports until registration is approved.
If you are not sure how your plan is managed, look at your plan or ask your coordinator. It is a reasonable first question on a phone call — and we will ask it too.
