How to read an NDIS price limit if you self-manage
A plain walk through the 2026–27 pricing schedule for Melbourne participants who pay an invoice themselves or through a plan manager.

Self-managing means you pay the provider and claim from the plan, or you authorise someone to do that with you. Plan-managing means a plan manager pays the invoice if the claim is valid. Those are not the same pricing rule. The NDIA says the maximums in the 2026–27 schedules apply to NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants.
The current schedule is the NDIS pricing schedule for 2026–27, effective from the Minister’s determination on 24 September 2026. It lists support item numbers, names, and maximum prices for national, remote, and very remote areas.
A short way to check an invoice
- Find the support item the provider says they delivered. The name matters more than a friendly description on the invoice.
- Use the national price if the support happened in Greater Melbourne. Remote loadings are for remote and very remote areas.
- Check the unit. Some supports are claimed per hour, some per trip, some as another unit. An hour price used for a whole day will not make sense.
- Confirm the hours happened. A price limit does not prove the shift took place.
- If a plan manager is paying, an invoice above the maximum should not be paid from the plan. If you self-manage, do not assume the same cap from this article. Check the pricing arrangements page before you pay a higher amount yourself.
A support category such as Core is not a permission slip for every cost inside it. Core, Capacity Building, and Capital pay for different things. We wrote a shorter version of that distinction in what Core supports pay for.
What Quantum Care will put on an invoice
Daily living and personal care, cleaning and gardening, community access, and transport. Weekdays, scheduled in advance. We will say if a request sits outside those services or outside what that part of a plan usually funds. We do not take agency-managed plans while registration is in progress.
If a figure on an invoice looks wrong, ask before it is claimed. You can also use our complaints path if we get it wrong. This article is general information, not a claim decision for your plan.
